It was back in 2008 when I was working as a youth and addictions counsellor that the idea of our name first emerged. There was one particular youth (that I had been counselling for a lengthy period of time) who suggested the name "Second Chances", for when the day came that I had my own practice. She said the name would give people hope "because everyone deserves a second chance in life". She felt that she was given a second chance when our paths crossed and wanted others to have the same opportunity. Now that the dream of having our own practice has become a reality the name really does emphasize what we are all about. - Troy
It has always been a passion of mine to help others work through their issues to improve their personal and family health. Throughout the years I have been an empathetic ear to many friends, family and often those that I have not come to know yet. Professionally I have over 16 years experience working with youth and adults diagnosed with various addiction, behavioral, and mental health issues. I also work as an addictions counsellor with Westbank First Nations and the surrounding community.
I have always enjoyed the opportunity to be part of reconnecting someone with themselves and families. I strive to make everyone feel comfortable in sharing their personal issues and believe I demonstrate genuine caring and a non-judgmental attitude towards all my clients. I am here for your well being and look forward to taking that healing journey with you.
Ongoing education is very important to me, and I am always learning something new. Below is a list of currently completed degrees and certifications:
As a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant for over 25 years I was no stranger to the impact of stress on the body. Diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at the age of 20, health issues have always played a major role in my adult life. It wasn't until I had gotten so sick that my entire colon was scheduled to be removed that I discovered BodyTalk. I was so impressed with the results, and fascinated by the science behind it, that I decided to become a BodyTalk Practitioner. I am happy to report that I am off all medication, am able to participate in activities I could only dream of before and have had zero relapses since. I am beyond excited to facilitate others on their own healing journey!
I love learning, and am constantly taking new courses and working towards new certifications. Below is a list of some of my professional accomplishments:
