It was back in 2008 when I was working as a youth and addictions counsellor that the idea of our name first emerged. There was one particular youth (that I had been counselling for a lengthy period of time) who suggested the name "Second Chances", for when the day came that I had my own practice. She said the name would give people hope "because everyone deserves a second chance in life". She felt that she was given a second chance when our paths crossed and wanted others to have the same opportunity. Now that the dream of having our own practice has become a reality the name really does emphasize what we are all about.
First I have to mention that I am a Saskatchewan Roughriders fan first and a B.C. lions fan second. I left behind cheering from the stands in Saskatchewan to reside in the beautiful Okanagan in 2003. I am married to my amazing wife Jodie and we have adopted our rescue dog Myer where we currently reside in the amazing community of West Kelowna.
I also work as an addictions counsellor with Westbank First Nations and the surrounding community. It has always been a passion of mine to help others work through their issues to improve their personal and family health. Throughout the years I have been a sympathetic and empathetic ear to many friends, family and often those that I have not come to know yet. Professionally I have over 15 years experience working with youth and adults diagnosed with various addiction, behavioral, and mental health issues.
I have always enjoyed the opportunity to be part of reconnecting someone with themselves and families. I strive to make everyone feel comfortable in sharing their personal issues and believe I demonstrate genuine caring and a non-judgmental attitude towards all my clients. I am here for your well being and look forward to taking that healing journey with you.
I have over 15 years of professional experience as a counsellor, working with both youth and adults in the areas of addiction and mental health treatment. I have worked with those who experience anxiety disorder and depression with the focus on individualized therapy plans.
Ongoing education is very important to me, and I am always learning something new. Below is a list of currently completed degrees and certifications:
